Indeed, I had overlooked that, cheers for the reminder! Looks like I am in as well.
yep i have prime, i’m in!
Rokpunkt is also definitely a great shout for next week.

It’s a little off piste climbing wise but Killian Jornet’s film Path to Everest is available free today (and just today) if you register at the link below (it says before close of play yesterday but it is still working)

Hi Folks
Would people mind if we did the screening at 2100 not 2030?
My flatmate is doing virtual yoga classes from my living room and 2030 is encroaching on shavasana, which is never a good thing. Have already checked with our overseas contingent
Tech platform choice: I suggest another go at Zoom + YouTube on your telly if you have one?
The only downside with Zoom + [different] media platform is you have two audio channels but conversely perhaps it is easier for folk to access eg YouTube on their TV? There’s not much in it - feedback welcome.
Tonight’s suggested screening-
Rotpunkt - Alex Megos and the Advent, the Agony and the Art of the Redpoint
Very very hard climbing and some German climbing history (says Matt)
This is c 50 mins so if the mood is in us we could do a double bill with a tea break moving on to another 50 min film
Zabardast - a mixed team of skiers and climbers go to the Karakoram
“The intimate travel diary of an incredible Freeride expedition into the heart of the Karakoram range. The search for one of the most beautiful mountains to ski on the planet, standing at 5880m. An adventure so remote, so high, so committed that no mistakes were allowed. During five weeks, the crew pushed deeper and deeper inside Pakistan, with a 150 km loop in complete autonomy, pulling sleds filled with food, tents and solar panels across gigantic glaciers. As far from home as one can get. A meeting point of Freeriding and Mountaineering. A true adventure.”

Rotpunkt:
Zabardast:
Happy to watch both to be honest! 9pm is fine.
Rotpunkt was OK, Zabardast was very good and rather whimsical. If you liked it there’s a sort of ‘big wall’ version with Nico Favresse and some motley other Latins called the Pathan Project.
Sounds good, 9pm good by me.
I know we already had a grit film and this isn’t a top end production but thought I’d suggest it anyway. It’s 45 minutes so possibly another double bill?
Jim Pope is perhaps the best young climber to (ever?) come out of the Castle and has climbed some proper 'ard stuff. This was only released onto YouTube on Sunday.
Any interest in a previous year’s Reel Rock eg this one, which includes Jordan which I’d be personally interested to see? The whole thing is 2 hours but it’s 4 discrete bits so we could watch 2 or 3?
Or has everyone seen it previously?
Linkage to Czech - you see Mike DLR we are listening
Wadi Rum
Speedclimbing all over the shop
Antarctica
Up for that, better than another generic grit film!
Right folks. I splashed the cash on Reel Rock 13 in order to get the download BUT it’s 4GB so here’s the plan. There’s two plans.
Plan A
Press Go on this download link as soon as you see it and start downloading the film. If you’re lucky it might be 15 minutes. If enough people have fully downloaded by showtime (2100) we’ll have a quorum.
If not…
Plan B
Grit and El Cap YouTube films. Will share links later
And either way start with Zoom.
Not so much a suggestion for a Wednesday night film, but the Alpine Club are doing a series of ClubCasts on YouTube, starting with this one:
Thanks will check it out
One suggestion: http://www.posingproductions.com/climbing-films/OnSight/OnSight.html
An oldie but a goldie, very very good film, can be purchased via Vimeo. I have the DVD (or had, as Mr Sagar borrowed it and hasn’t given it back…)
The other good one on Posing is Set in Stone, all about Lakeland dark horse and sheep wrangler Dave Birkett
remastered no less. sounds like a goer
any of these options sounds good!
If you want to do more film festival style, here are a few options:
Blood on the Crack
Kevin Jorgeson and Jacob Cook head to the Bugaboos to attempt the second ascent of the Tom Egan Memorial Route, which contains one of the hardest, most excruciating crack climbs in the world, renowned for reducing fingertips to shreds.

Silence
(2018, 18 min)
What does it take to climb the world’s first 9c? Let’s find out in Silence, a movie by Bernardo Giménez. It shows what preceded the afternoon of September 3, 2017 when Adam Ondra, a professional rock climber and currently one of the best climbers in the world, made a little piece of climbing history when he climbed his project in the spectacular Hanshelleren Cave in Norway. The route, later named Silence, received a new grade of 9c and became the hardest route in the world.
The Lorax Project

Ascending Afghanistan *warning graphic content (2016, 44 min)

Break on Through

Liv Along the Way
(2018, 23 min)
Since she first summited Mont Blanc as a teen, Liv Sansoz knew she would make her life in the mountains. She was twice crowned World Champion in sport climbing, and eventually expanded her professional horizons to mixed climbing, ski mountaineering, and base jumping. In 2017, at 40 years old, Liv set out from her base in Chamonix, France to attempt to climb all 82 4000m peaks in the European Alps in a single year. As she’s learned several times throughout her life, things don’t always go as planned.
Speak To Me Softly
(2019, 6 min)
Experience fear and emotion alongside climber Jenny Abegg as she ascends Moonlight Buttress while fighting the self-criticism and doubt from that little voice we all have in the back of our heads.
A lot of good films there, I would be interested in the less mainstream ones, I haven’t seen these: Ascending Afghanistan, the Apa Sherpa, the Will Gadd and the Margo Hayes.
Uh, I have internet problems, prob can’t join. Sorry!
