This's weekend in peak

Hi guys.
@dabarlow @dadler @Catrin @willboxall
Who is down for defo for the trip tomorrow? Oakwood tube station at 7pm.
M

I am for defos in for tagging along however possible, knowing that I am last to the party and so last for rides/climbing partners/etc. If the mission is to north lees and stanage, It is easy for me to take the train up and boulder around and catch up with you all at the campsite and the pub and maybe at the crag for a route or two.

Too cold for bare hands on rock and rock shoes. It could work with big boots and gloves on easier routes (like the Alps)

Let me know where … Could come play!

Meanwhile in Snowdonia there’s snow down to valley level, and it’s still snowing.

Definitely bouldering weather! Think the roaches might stay free of snow … Few flakes here but not much yet … Forecast for sat good, Sunday not so …

I would love to get out climbing. I don’t know how miserable it will be on Saturday, or whether it will be climbable with the precipitation possibility on Sunday, but if there is momentum and folks are going I am keen.

Sorry Will. I now see you are talking to Barlow not me…

It’s now snowing hard in staffordshire!

How many are interested?

I reckon Snowdonia on Saturday would be OK for walking (though fairly snow and very windy), but wet on Sunday. Peak district Saturday looks OK, but Sunday is wet. So I’m recommending a Peak trip. The options are

  • Camp (should we insist @bullopolis does this? )
  • Stay in the Climbers’ Club Downes hut below Froggatt. Liz and I are members so we can sign in 6 other people, for £9/night/person. People could just go for Saturday, or if there’s a group we could go on Friday night and have a more sociable time by staying in the hut. Sunday really doesn’t look good though, so currently I’m intending to return Saturday night.

Comments?

P.S. I can take my car and fit 3 other people in it.

I’m psyched! Happy to camp but would not say no to a hut

blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } Hut sounds good; I’m in, can drive 4 others from Oakwood tomorrow at 7pm

So who would be in your car?

I had intended to make to to Oakwood for 7 tomorrow, if you’re still ok to take me Will?
Who is taking what? Should I pack rack and ropes or are we sharing out?

I’m in as well. Camping sounds fantastic - it’s two or three years I haven’t been camping in winter. But hut is more reasonable for socialising. If Sunday doesn’t look good - I would join David for the drive back on Sat. evening.

So who in addition to @Vilius wants a lift in my car? I’ll leave Oakwood soon after 6pm, and staying in the hut (http://www.climbers-club.co.uk/venues/ro-bob-downes-hut-froggatt/). For the hut you just need a sleeping bag, and some breakfast food I guess (and drink for Friday night…). I’m intending to go bouldering, so I’ll bring my mat.

Well let me know … Ill come to peak and sign people in so you don’t
freeze  otherwise ill go n wales to walk / aggregate climbing comp im
doing there!

I live near telford so mid way!

Liz

If it is possible it would be great if I could jump in with you and Vilius, David. I am thinking I will leave my bouldering mat behind unless that is unwise.
