I have to be back on the Sunday morning but was thinking of coming for the Saturday does that mess up numbers if I leave on Saturday night?
I think we are potentially in that world now Adam, unless they will grant us some parking spaces under a block booking.
The car parking is separate from the camping field, apparently. So shuttling may be the only option - from Hathersage or e.g. the Plantation car park (where youāre not supposed to park overnight). 40 spaces still left for campers on Saturday night but parking is full.
@Peter - Donāt see why not? It seems arrangements arenāt entirely fixed yet. Just add your details to the spreadsheet I guess.
Shows our barn at Ā£4.00 per night. Thatās not the case any more.
Hi Peter, donāt see why not either. Not wanting to speak for Ben, but it seems we are arranging our own accommodation/camping due to various last minute challenges with bunk house options.
Parking at North Lees campsite seems to be full though.
Alternatively, if youāre a CC member then the hut Holly booked could be an option.
YHA also an idea.
We could use the NLMC Random Meets WhatsApp group to coordintate meeting at the crag.
Hi All, I may have messed up with the āpeople shuttlingā offer since itās Ollyās car and he was actually going to sleep in the car with a makeshift plywood bed/mattress job, meaning only 2 people (one driver, one passenger) can use the car = very inefficient and time consuming for Olly to shuttleā¦also, I didnāt ask if he was happy to do said shuttling!
Iāll chat to Olly and see if we can help. He may be willing to sleep in a tent and leave the car bed at home. Also, I should be getting my campervan tomorrow, which has 5 seatbelts, and could open up a comfy sleeping option for Olly if we drove that, but only if the site donāt mind sleeping in the vehicle at that spot (fire hazard, etc) - the van would be more obvious than Olly stealth camping in his car.
@Peter no problem, itād be good to see you there!
Hmm, the parking issue sounds like a bit of a pain. Iāll give them a ring tomorrow and see what we can do. Whoās already booked a pitch/parking?
Iāve updated our accomodation column to include the parking bay number weāve got reserved.
If everyone can do the same it would help coordinate lifts to the campsite.
With camping issues in mind should we look at Lake District accommodation now? Where are people wanting to be based? Borrowdale as before?
Due to a cock up at north lees we are not booked in so will wild camp somewhere. Happy to shuttle up to 3 to and from town to campsite
Be aware: all official parking at Stanage is now Pay and Display.
Are we doing a group booking for the curry on Saturday?
I am now attending this trip and have added my details to the spreadsheet. I have booked a pitch at the White House Farm Camp Site, at Wardlow SK17 8RP; they theoretically only allow 1 tent per pitch, albeit its just a plain field but with toilets & hot showers. I booked through Hipcamp.
I would prefer to drive, collecting from Oakwood tube starion, piccadilly Line, so please let me know if that works for you.
Regards
Peter
Hmm. North Lees got back to me and thereās nothing to be done about the lack of parking. Sorry about this folks. Iāve enquired at Heatherhill Farm and Swallowholme Camping & Caravan Park and neither have space. I had no idea that camping in April would be an unreliable backup option.
So it looks like @Karl and @Olly have car parking at North Lees. Would you be able to ferry drivers to cars parked in Hathersage?
Alternatively, thereās more space at White House Farm Camp Site, where Peter is staying.
It looks like there are two parking spot pitches left for Friday only, might be worth snapping them up for late arrivals.
On Sat we can drop our cars in Hathersage when we go for curry and either walk back or squeeze in available cars?
Campsite have a reception area where you can perch a car for an hour or so if you are unloading etc.
Happy to be a ferryman. Iāll only have one passenger seat in the car as my camping bed will be in the back.
Weāll make it work!
Hi Peter,
I am going to check the campsite tomorrow, if they have more space.
Have you stayed there before? Are the showers decent?
anyhow, what time are you planning to go on Friday?
I live at Wood green, so can get to Oakwwood rather easily
Best,
Greg.
