Good idea Gareth. Unfortunately it’s prime kiddie story time so can’t be commiting to a class at this hour.
No worries
Anymore for anymore - maybe one or two more to make it viable?
I’m keen!
Excellent - we are 5 thus far
I’ll give it a go too. I’ll have to avoid any exercises that involve kneeling, as that upset my knee when I tried yoga at Christmas; that may not leave me with much, but hey something’s better than nothing!
Let’s hope you never receive a knighthood Peter.
Remember to wear very short shorts and a nice string vest. I hear that’s the fashion nowadays.
Yoga. Great. Pls ensure you are on the WhatsApp group for link sharing. If not message me
I found kneeling during yoga extremely painful with my knees, but was shown a solution that made a huge difference.
Roll up a tea towel into a sausage, then fold it over so you have a loop at one end. Secure the two ends together with a band, and open the loop a bit so it fits around your knee when kneeling, keeping your kneecap off the floor.
Probably won’t help with all knee problems, but was fab for me with yoga
Thanks @LIon, that’s a good option to have. I’ve also got myself a pair of knee pads, designed for protecting knees when kneeling, so I’ll probably try those first; they have padding that sits just below the knee cap, resulting in the upper part of the shins taking the pressure.
Many thanks to those that joined us for yoga last night. I think overall it was well enjoyed.
Just a quick straw poll on here: who would be interested in a session on Wednesdays also? We have 3 interested so far.
Madlen would do 2 a week for us in lockdown period depending on interest.
(Again it’s 4 quid a class or 25 for the 8 sessions).
Let me know asap if interested thx
I really enjoyed yoga last night, and am definitely keen to join every Monday, but I don’t think I can commit to Wednesday as well, sorry!
Yoga/Wed
Not tonight - my fault for telling Madlen late there was some interest. She will run it for 4 or 5 peeps…let’s review next week.

Mon Yoga / propose 1915 over 1930. Extra time to get the super noodles cooked for those that want to do the double. Ok ???
Well, eventually, I built some paralettes too!
Many thanks to Mark for the dowels and for not complaining about the exptortionate amount of time I had the hole saw bit for. There was a tale which started off quite happy (several weeks of holiday exploring Northumberland’s finest) and then became more of a sordid tale of woe (massive crises at work combined with what in hindsight was a gloriously overoptimistic estimate of how easily we could do DIY with two small children under our feet)! [I’ll get it in the post next time I’m out near a post office]
They’re not the finest workmanship, but they seem to work…
Hope everyone is doing well…
@ajmorris228 - No worries, I had forgotten about it completely!
Looking good and I’m sure you will get some use out of them. Plus if your kids ever start gymnastics they will have some nice home kit to play around on.
My big paralettes are proud to announce a new addition to their family
Safe to say there’s no chance of an L sit to planche transition with that little clearance! But they’re a bit more portable and making them killed a bit of time.
Hope everyone is doing well and training hard. Fingers crossed for more freedom soon!
Interesting they start with the L-sit, given it uses fairly different muscles to a front lever. I rate the knee to bar (basically pulling from hanging into a tuck front lever) as something relevant to do if your elbows don’t like pull-ups, in that it works a similar part of the back.
Front lever is always one of those things I ought to put more effort into. That and a muscle up.
For a sometimes unconventional view on which bodyweight training exercises have most relevance for climbing, gymnast-turned-climber Steven Low makes for interesting reading…
Very useful, thanks for sharing that!
/yoga on Wed / pls indicate interest
We have the option of another yoga class just for us on a Wednesday @7 by my friend Tassie. As you may recall we had ones before put on by Madlen – she is only doing weekend ones now, details of which have already been shared. Could you have a mull over and give me a steer either here or tonight on v pub if you might have interest in a Wednesday at 7 class for a month? (He’s offering 4 for £20 – though he has other generic classes going on so you can use up your 4 credits on whatever you want -there might just be non-climbing people on them aka the unclean). Ta, laters, Gareth
