Hi Geoff, did you get any closer to figuring this out. Happy to share the costs depending on logistics. My number 07842312906 if easier to chat offline
Just a message to say there is a spare spot in my van heading out to the Alps if anyone still needs a lift.
Itinerary is leaving NE ldn after lunch on the 8th, stopping overnight somewhere just before Dijon (thinking of kipping at a cheap 24hr F1 hotel). Will then be driving back in one go on Sat 16th, arriving back to ldn late.
@bobf hoping you’re still keen for a lift i’ll message you directly about plans.
Hi Tilly, yes, I’m still very keen! The itinerary looks good.
One space left in my car leaving from London, if anyone’s still looking to sort their travel. My number is 07474946349.
Leaving Friday 8th, around 5pm, stay overnight somewhere along the way, arrive Saturday 9th, maybe 8pm in Ailefroide
Return on Sunday 17th, leaving early in the morning, back in London at maybe 10pm.
Hey Ladja,
What with air travel looking dicey I think I’m going to suck it up and go by road. Yes please!
@Charlie, sorry for the radio silence, I’ve been moving house and just not on the ball with this thread. I won’t be coming to Turin in this case.
Thanks
Geoff
Would anyone else be interested in joining a slightly extended trip - out on e.g. 6th or 7th and back on about the 19th, probably with a stop in Font on the way back? I’ve got definitely one spot in my car and possibly two.
We’ve confirmed our booking - ferry on 7th (leave London in the morning) and camp site on the 8th. then ferry back late on the 19th (pass London around midnight).
There’s a space in the car still if anyone wants those dates in either direction.
We are leaving tonight but probably won’t make it to Ailefroide until late on Sunday 10th
Whoever gets there first, try and claim a spot for the club? Last time people went on the other side of the road from the reception. Post on here to let others know…assuming the 4G is better now than it was 4 years back…!
That would be us but we will solo for a week or so… we will try!
Ok Alex Honnold
Missing a crucial “be” there…
Solo as in the only people in the club there unless I am mistaken
Folk new to Ailefroide like me….you may like to check out the app Fatmap which has some neat google earth style imagery well presented with an ability to customise annotations for climbing areas, skiing etc.
I use it skiing to visualise routes but quite good for general orientation irrespective of sport
Apparently the food at the Pelvoux hut is so disgusting @Catrin won’t go back. We have all been warned.
Meanwhile, quick detour into Switzerland
Hi, just a quick hello message.
I am joining last moment on this trip!
I am coming with TIlly, thank you TIlly for offering to give me a ride!
I will be bringing my gear for sport and trad climbing (80m rope).
I have not agreed with anyone on it yet, but I hope we can climb together!
Catch you there
More hut beta - the food at the glacier blanc is better but the warden is not the friendliest…
The campsite is very busy as of today. We are in sector f but the toilets in sector E are better (as in they are not rancid squatters).
Go claim us a spot at sector E maybe?
Wahoo, enroute with Greg and Bob (and tag along cyclist). Aiming to arrive at campsite around 3pm tomorrow!
Is there something identifiable we should look out for to find you guys to know where to set up?
Also totally forgot to get a Critair sticker - still trying to figure out if we are going to get caught out driving through Grenoble, I can’t figure out the regs - anyone know?
Excited!!
DLR and i have struck camp here for tonight anyhow. Not sure how close we are to you Guy. Gladed area close but not too close to E toilettes. Room for others.
Campsite generally busy. If you prefer open spaces a gazebo may be a thought if coming thru Briancon (Decathlon)

Will probably get quieter again on Sunday/Monday when the frogs go back to their ponds
