2023 Lake District Meet 5th-8th May

Hey,
If anyone else is giving away they’re bunk house spot we would take it? It seems there’s one going spare but we’re two (me and JT)
We would be keen on bunkhousing
Laura

Bunkhouse update - Cute and basic bunkhouse. Does have an electric kettle, small fridge and 4 electric burners. Slight pain there are signs advising to boil water for drinking … I have bought 4 loo rolls and rubbish bags. There is washing up stuff here (George is bringing a tea towel!) I reckon we could definitely do a communal meal up here if someone wants to do a shop and cook? (Note limited fridge space!) or at least do a get together, Lots of chairs right next to the bowder stone so if we have a nice evening would be a nice place to hang out. Only one fob and it’s in the lock box per instructions above. It’s a little walk from
the carpark straight forward enough. Car park is £8.50 as an all day rate says no over night parking - may be worth leaving a note saying you’re staying at the bowderstone bunkhouse as that was our instructions for parking. Note only takes coins No signal though (at least for me!) See you all later, heading to the campsite now!

If anyone wants the wood burner on - plz pick up some logs!

Camping - the campsite is down a lane taking the left before you get to the farm. She is going to tape off the first two plots on the right as you come in the gates to the ‘open field’ for us, cars can park behind the small Shepard’s hut with two pitches for camping, think there is flexibility for a third if needed. Toilets are apparently in the woodland area, gap in the wall about half way down the campsite then following the small path around the right of a mound. I didn’t actually go see them, showers a walk up to the farm (open 7-10). If you’re willing a shin high paddle it cuts the commute between the campsite and bunk to around 5 mins or so! It’s a bit slippy and rocky so bring your crocs? Propose I collect money and pay by card together as have paid the deposit! The grange cafe serves beer and looks like a good post climb spot!

Thanks for checking everything out, Tilly.
See you up there.

Thanks Tilly! Would wellies be needed for the shortcut to the bunkhouse or is or passable in lowish walking boots?

I went barefoot… not walking boots. I guess wellies would work if you don’t want to get your feet wet!

My tent is up and you can’t miss it… (sorry). Seems like there’s loads of space and it’s really quiet at the moment bizarrely

Absolutely grand! Thank you Tilly!!

Hey guys! enjoy your long weekend at the lakes, hope weather turns out good. Coincidently I bumped into few people at the Stafford services. Myself on the way to Isle of Mull for a week:)

Thanks all for joining this weekend and hope great climbing was had by all!

Just to close out this meet, quick note to say some people have overpaid for the bunkhouse due to an early error in my accounting. For anyone who paid £30 plz message me your details and I’ll transfer you £5 back.

Thanks

Amazing to bump in to you by co-incidence Roman! Hope you’re having a great time in Mull.

Tilly, thanks for organising the meet, I had a great time climbing and socialising.
