Special Pembroke Meet - 25/26 July 2026

We know the August Pembroke meet is one of the most popular meets, with it’s glorious solid cliffs, dramatic abseils, and unbeatable sea views. So this year, why not go twice? It also happens to fall on the last Range West briefing of the year, those of you wanting to get that in.

I propose staying at Bosherston Campsite, as it’s cheap and cheerful, no need to book, it’s close to Range East crags, and there’s a pub nearby. Plus a beach you can walk to. Though open to alternatives if anyone would rather stay further north/near St. David’s.

Once I have an idea of numbers I’ll book a pub dinner - let me know on the spread sheet if you want in on this.

Looking forward to hanging out with you wonderful lot by the sea! And pray to the weather gods Summer holds out a little longer!

Meet type: Seacliffs/Trad

When: 25th/26th July 2026

Location: Pembrokeshire coast

Campsite: Bosherston Campsite - £6pppn, no need to book, near Range East, near a pub

Skills needed: Lead belaying and abseiling (with prusik) and ideally awareness of how to ascend a rope (if needed). Usually abseil approaches and some tidal.

Transport: As usual please look at the sign-up sheet and arrange transportation usually via sending a DM to your preferred driver. Please update the spreadsheet once you’ve agreed a lift (see “Car logistics” tab)

AOB:

  • Sea cliffs can be more serious in nature than other climbing venues so please make sure you are comfortable with the skills needed, if unsure please ask one of the other committee members
  • Climbing partners are self-organised between members, this is often arranged informally in advance/on the drive down/ at the campsite over breakfast
  • Reminder that those joining the meets are preferably members (for insurance purposes) but as a minimum need to have joined us at the wall for a belay check
  • Please make sure you are aware and comfortable with the BMC statement of participation, by signing up to the meet you accept this Meets — North London Mountaineering Club

Pembroke Bird Restrictions 2026.pdf (488.6 KB)

This is just a reminder that we are within the bird-ban season and that therefore everyone must familiarise themselves with which routes must not be climbed on the day, owing to nesting birds. Attached is the current situation for Range East. However, we need to look out for any updates posted on the local notice boards and with cliff-top markers, as described on the attached. Range West restrictions will be clarified in Saturday morning’s Range West briefing, for those intending to climb there.

I’ve updated the car tab, drivers please confirm how many spaces you have if not already done so…for example, Sarah, Marianne, Esme are you all in the same car or all driving separately, it’s not clear from the spreadsheet…?

Sorry Matt, have fixed! We’re all driving up together.
