New Members Meet 16-17th April

Sorry it is a last minute but I don’t think I can make it tonight.
I will plan ahead and join the next trip!

Hi guys. Richard Haszko was spot on… Its gonna be cold and poss a little bit showery. Bring WARM clothes:grinning: looking forward to seeing you all there…woop woop…someone callin da police!!!

hi @ChrisColebrook Martin can give me a lift at 7pm from Oakwood which is probably best option. See you there!

you might want some more punctuation in that sentence Tom…

There should be a couple of spare mattresses under the bed platforms

I think Holly is safe for four reasons (in no specific order) …
She can do a lot better than me
I am already married
Caroline has now made me pack a hammock so I won’t be on the floor
You know I only have eyes for you Tom
Aurelio

Caroline just pointed out I’m already married to the first person I slept on the cottage floor with

It’s clearly catching. I might sleep outside just in case.

Hahaha. Ahhh. This is the sweetest chat chain ever. Who knew the cottage floor was responsible for so many happy marriages.

Although this is all starting to sound slightly supernatural so long as there is no ancient club law (or curse!) which decrees you are obliged to marry the first person you sleep on the cottage floor with… I’m guessing I’ll be ok

The committee keeps promising to repeal that item of the constitution -
it’s ended up with some very odd partnerships. But somehow they never get
round to it…

I hope not. I’ve been racking my brains and its more than likely the first person I shared the floor with was Tom. Id hate to have to explain to my wife…

It was you, me, Naomi and Harriet. Just saying…

As a brief interruption to the history the NMLC’s unique courtship rituals - I’ve just checked the met office website (there’s prob a better one for the mountains but I don’t know where we’re actually going) and the weather is shite today (evidently) but sunny from 9/10am tomorrow and then from v early til lunchtime on Sunday. So looks like Saturday is definitely the day for leisurely breakfasts and Sunday is the day to get up and out as early as possible!

It did occur to me but I figured since I wasn’t sure (either that I’d shared your magical first shared floor or whether that occasion would have been my first night on that floor) it would be wrong to presume - its obviously a treasured memory to you

Are we still climbing next weekend BTw?

Ok, no problem @Ariel_Pilotto.

@Henry_Jones. Back to plan A, a 5pm meet at Watford Junction. I’ve text you where we’re meeting.

It may have been your first time on that floor but it wasn’t mine. I
believe my heart is equally divided between Liz, JT, and Mr Margesson.

Has anyone shared the floor with Lucy and Brian’s dogs and is there anything they want to tell us …

oh dear! well in the end I’ve decided to stay put for the weekend- too much to do! sounds like a good time will be had by all and I look forward to the wedding invites…

Thanks all for an enjoyable, and extremely sunny, new members’ meet. I hope everyone made it back at a vaguely reasonable hour last night.

To the six potential new members:
I hope you enjoyed yourselves. If you choose to join within the next week then we will count the £12 you paid in hut fees as part-payment for your membership (since membership included free use of the hut). The first year is already discounted by 50% so that means the additional cost to you is a whopping £7.25. To join use the form on the Get Involved page - you just need two of the people you climbed with or met over the weekend to support your membership.

Great! I loved every minute of it! Raul I do’t know if you have paid the hut use for me as well, if yes can you please send the bank details to 07975719532 or we can meet this wed at mile end? If Raoul hasn’t paid for me I will pay in full the joining fee if that’s ok. I will bring the form on wed, hopefully there will be members there to sign it. Ciao!

Awesome weekend. So great to be outdoors and climbing again, and in that weather. Thanks for the wicked hospitality, the endless advice, unsurpassable coffee making skills and all of the guidance on climbing (and swimming) and super company to boot. I will never approach a bench or a kitchen stool in the same way, ever again and I blame all of you! Keen to join and look forwards to catching you at the Castle next Monday.
Speaking of boots, I have outwitted myself and accidentally left my favourite pair of leather ankle boots at the cottage and wondered how I might go about retrieving them please?
Great to meet you all and see you soon. VBW Sam
