Club member Lisa Rigg (Allen Abramson’s wife) will be participating in the group exhibition ‘A Wider Landscape’ at The Alpine Club in London in September 2022, which focuses on landscape painting through a female gaze, reinterpreting the Alpine Club’s renowned collection in a more inclusive and modern light. The exhibition will open on 13 September 2022 and run until the 13 November 2022.
This exhibition of mountain landscapes draws works from the Alpine Club collection and seven contemporary artists:
Zoe Benbow
Serena Curmi
Janet Johnson
Jenny Pockley
Lisa Rigg
Emma Stibbon RA
Polly Townsend
The exhibition displays a wide array of mediums and styles, showing how women engage with mountain landscapes, how personal safety for women in remote landscapes affects their work, and responses to accelerating ecological and climatic change. We will try to organise a club outing there, but in the meantime, here’s an article about the exhibition just published in the Alpine Club Newsletter. The exhibition is curated by Polly Townsend.
