Current Lake District conditions

Here are the current Lake District conditions courtesy of Bob Powney.
There is a good chance this weekend will be good for some grade 1/2 gullly climbs. Bowfell still had ribbons of snow yesteday. Now getting snow showers which may be the case for the next day or two. Gt Langdale this weekend may be just right to sample a mountain route. Great End will be busy probably. I suggest Bowfell for a debutant. Bob

There is a high avalanche risk reported today though after all the snow https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=561381494209531&id=100010130568223
And also reported
Striding Edge - mixture of hard neve on the exposed aspects and wind blown snow accumulations on the leeward aspects. Ground frozen from about 600m but turf not particularly well frozen under snow. A 4-5 foot cornice at the top although thankfully the slope below seemed well bonded and no obvious signs of wind slab. Summit plateau well wind scoured and frozen. No cornice above Swirral Edge. Quite “full on” conditions today with high winds, a lot of windblown snow and poor visibility. I wouldn’t have fancied swimming in those gullies (if you didn’t get avalanched!).

Hi both,
do you have any suggestions for huts or opportunities to stay at low costs in the Lakes?

Thanks,
Jan

Great Langdale NT campsite is prone to flooding, so BaysBrown farm campsite may be a better choice (c/o Bob again).
