Cheers

Hi. Iā€™m not a member of the club yet but Iā€™m very interested in joining. I have hiked quite a bit but have barely done any climbing but Iā€™m keen to start learning. Will you please let me know how it works?

Hi Ariadna
We welcome newcomers who are able to lead belay already. It sounds like youā€™re not leading yet? In which case it would be better for you to join in one of the Castle sessions to learn (or do a beginners course). Once youā€™ve got a bit more experience and are either leading or can lead belay, you will get much more out of our sessions and be able to climb with anyone. Drop me a line if youā€™d like any more info, happy to help!
Holly

Iā€™ll be there this evening from 6

Hi, Holly.

Iā€™ve lead belayed and also led and done a few multi pitches in the past but my skills are quite rusty, so Iā€™ll definitely do a course at the Castle to refresh everything.
Once I do that, could I join the club ? I just want to know that I donā€™t need to climb at a certain grade because I am very much a beginner. I have climbed at most 8ā€™s or 9ā€™s in American system (5c-6a in the French).

Also, I went through your webpage but could only find info on someone organising walks during the week. I was wondering if the club organised hikes during the weekend. If not, could you recommend any hiking clubs? I have gone to the Ramblers and didnā€™t quite like it because itā€™s mainly walks with very little steepness so Iā€™m looking for something to the next level to get ready to climb Mont Blanc. Any suggestions, more than welcome!

Thanks for your time,
Best,
Ariadna

Hi everyone - lovely to climb with some of you last Monday. I canā€™t make tonight, but am aiming at every fortnight, so will hope to see you next week. (Have an amazing time in Wales.)

If youā€™re leading already then youā€™re very welcome to come along and join us. Donā€™t worry about the grade you climb  The ability to lead belay is to ensure you can climb/belay safely with any of our members. If you want any more advice or refreshing lead belay skills, I can help (Iā€™m a climbing instructor).

We donā€™t organise many hikes on their own per se, any hiking is usually instead of climbing due to wet weather! There may well be interested people in the club though, once youā€™re a member you can start your own chat thread about it.

Will try to make it today  depends on how am I feeling in general! battling this virus (did LFTs and all negative btw)

Just cos itā€™s not Covid doesnā€™t mean the rest of us want to catch it!

Hi all, Iā€™m also interested in the club, and hope to meet some of you at the Castle from ~7pm tonight. Best wishes, Will

Running a bit late but up for leading ~7:15

Hi, Holly.
That sounds great ! Iā€™ll probably come along on either next Monday 11th or the 25th (I imagine you will all be away in Cornwall on Monday 18th for Easter).
Like i said, I have lead belayed, top ropped and even some leading in the past, but I would definitely need to refresh basic skills because I havenā€™t climbed in over 2 years . Is that alright? Would you be able to help me refresh my skills?
I would let you know in advance if I can make it on the 11th or the 25th.

Thanks and cheers!

Bit knackered but should be around this evening from 6ishā€¦

Iā€™ll go today as well. Maybe 7-ish.

Feeling worse than I expected after yesterdayā€™s climbing, wonā€™t be joining on this week

Iā€™ll come up for a while from 6 - may not be for too long as Iā€™m still tired from recovering from a (non-Covid) bug. Will even remember to bring a rope this timeā€¦

Iā€™ll be there from just after 6.

+1

Just arrived. Where are people. And what do yall look like?

Is anyone going today? I might head over at some point in the afternoon
